Need a break from the sitting and networking at the meeting? If you feel like stretching your legs a bit, run with your colleagues and friends along the beautiful Atlantic City Boardwalk for the Spawning Run. Feeling more relaxed? Follow along at a more leisurely pace in the Carcass Crawl. The run will be timed via Chronotrack Live, with results posted later online. Refreshments at the finishing line await all participants and awards will also be presented to the top finishers in multiple categories. Volunteers along the route will help show you the way and keep your gills wet!
The route will be an out and back 3.1 mile course.
Spawning Run and Carcass Crawl 5k– Tuesday, 6:00 A.M.
The event will start on the boardwalk out front of the Hard Rock Hotel/Steel Pier and will follow the boardwalk north to the inlet, and then west along the inlet towards Gardner’s Basin. It will be an out-and-back course.
Splash & Dash – Tuesday 6:45 A.M.
Ever wish that the Annual Meeting included a water-based event (we are fish people after all!)? Well here is your chance! Come “swim with the fishes” and show off your best Baywatch moves in this swim-run duathlon. This swim-run event will meet on the beach in front of the Hard Rock Hotel. Participants will start on the beach, run into the ocean, and swim out and back approximately 400 meters, followed by a 1 mile out and back run along the beach. There is a 40-minute time cutoff. The Atlantic City Beach Patrol will be providing lifeguards along the swim course, but participants are reminded that this is an open ocean swim.
If you are feeling particularly fast you can compete in both events for the same low price! Jitneys will run between the Sheraton hotel and the start area beginning at 5:15 A.M. and continuing until 9:00 A.M. (or until all participants have completed the course, whichever occurs first).
Register on-line and check in at the spawning run booth in the convention center to receive race information and your t-shirt. All online registrants will receive a commemorative t-shirt. Late registration will be allowed at the booth until 5 PM on Monday, but a t-shirt and size choice cannot be guaranteed.
